Still Here! 02.06.10 - 10:10pm
Okay, so it's been more than a year since my last entry. Sorry for anyone who actually checks this site on any kind of regular basis (or at all, lol).
I've been trying to keep up with e-mails. I recently had some problems recently with everything getting marked as spam so anyone who sent me a message without a reply feel free to send me another and hopefully I'll get it this time, I think everything is sorted out now. I know I've been really lax about crocheting/updating/stuff to do with this site for the past year or so. To be completely honest I've been kinda bummed by people stealing patterns, asking questions that can be easily answered by a google search (like "what does sc mean?") and I know this probably sounds completely stupid but every time I've gone to crochet I feel so pressured to write down everything I do, type up a pattern, take pictures, etc. so I just kinda stopped. Not that I don't want to make patterns anymore, every time someone sends me an email about making hats/toys for charity or that their kids/grandkids loved things made from my patterns it makes me feel all kinds of warm and fuzzy inside.
So what does this mean for my site? I'm not sure exactly, I've been considering making patterns or items for sale. I'd rather not sell patterns, but I'm not sure how many people would buy a hat from me if the pattern is free on my site, heh. Anyways, enough rambling for now, and hopefully my next entry won't be a year from now, and will contain something a little more exciting.

ok i am somewhat confused on your lattice hat pattern. in the items needed it says less than 4oz of ww yarn, but you talk about how to change colors and when showing how to make the lattice treble cluster you are using a different color. is the different color used just to show how to make the ltc?

The different color is just for contrast so you can see the lattice stitch better. I tried it with the same color but it didn't photograph well. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused!

I just want to say that I have made 2 of your lattice hats; one for myself and one for a friend. I love it. It challenged me but was not too hard and turned out just right. Thank you for all your work.

Sarah, Your work and patterns are exquisite. You are gifted. Find a way to carry on, try not to get discouraged. Every crocheter should have a stitch book or source for specific stitch instructions that includes abbreviations. If someone doesn't know what 'sc' means, how can the person crochet? Isn't that the first stitch you learn after a chain? Perhaps you could ignore some of the questions. Afterall, you're a busy woman! Would a recorder help when creating a pattern so you don't have to stop and write? I don't know about stealing. If it isn't nailed down... All the very best to you. I love google, its how I 'found' you! I know what you said about selling made works of your pattern, I am doing a charity crochet event here in Austin Texas in a few months and I'd like to use some of your hats, I would OF COURSE state where I got the pattern from (NEVER EVER state it as my own) would that be ok? (I could even print out your patterns and have them with me at my booth) Also I LOVE LOVE LOVE the leg warmers! I have yet to make anything from your patterns (I only just found you) but I plan on making the lattice hat this afternoon. I have been searching for fun cable/lattice hats b/c I am quite sick of the hdc/sc/shell variations that I have been doing. lol

I would love for you to use my patterns for any charity purposes! No need to state where the pattern is from if you're not profiting from it (gifts, charity, stuff like that) Good luck at the event, and I'm glad you love my patterns! :)

Well I just found your site. I understand being a hobby artist when it turned into a demand I lost total passion for it. I walked away from it.... oh 3 years ago haven't picked it back up. I think the key is to do things for yourself. Be happy.. if it means not making patterns. Then don't Another idea.. make a collection of patterns and maybe you could get them sold on etsy or Annies Attic or something. Some free.. some not.. Just be happy! Do what is best for you. Good Luck! Crochet and Knitting is what I went to when I gave up my art. I love it and find peace in it.. I do some work for hire but nothing major and I not skilled enough to make patterns but I think I'd do a half and half mix.. Sale and share. Sell products on Etsy too... You know there are always folks out there too lazy to do the work.

Your work is AMAZING!! I honestly believe there is a market of people out there who would buy your work. Look into it, because you must continue you're just a wonderful designer! You're an inspiration. I just found your site while looking for a cable hat pattern and I was astounded by your work. Try etsy.com. I'm sure people would buy your creations! All the best to ya!

I have to say, I'm super impressed with your patterns. There are SO MANY patterns out there, free and for sale, but it's not easy to find patterns that are so easy to read (in my opinion) and turn out so wonderful. I must admit, the only pattern I've made of yours is your "Fuzzy Body" cat. I made it without the fuzzy yarn because I didn't have any and I made it in white and, for some reason, my arms and legs turned out longer, but even with the differences, it still turned out amazing. I have yet to find another good cat pattern that is simple to do and still looks good. Whether you continue to make patterns or not, whether you decide to sell them or not, you're very gifted and I appreciate your willingness to share your gift.

First, thank you for all you wonderful patterns! I have enjoyed your hat patterns and have made a few for myself and family. Second, I think you should do what your heart tells you. If that means posting when you feel like posting, selling patterns or giving them freely, or not answering "simple question" email, then do it! Do what feels right to you! When you offer a pattern for free, you are giving so much of your efforts and if people can't appreciate that, that's their problem. It would be a loss for many of us not to see your patterns again, but that would be your choice and no one has a right to tell you to do otherwise. Whatever you decide, I hope it makes you happy!! Lots of love, Trish in CO
