Items Needed:
Small amount of Worsted Weight Yarn in black and flesh
G Hook
Felt, embroidery thread, or doll eyes for the face.
Note: It's a good idea to leave a large tail of yarn when fastening off the body pieces. Then you just sew the pieces onto the body using the tail!
Body and Head
1. Ch 10 in black
2. Sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc across until you get to the last chain, sc 3 in the last chain, and then sc down the back side of the chain (to form a long skinny oval) sc 2 in the very first chain, do not join
3. 2sc in first st from last round (next st from hook), sc across 8 sts, 2sc in each of next 3 sts, sc across next 8 sts, 2sc in each of next 2 sts (28 sts)
4-17. Sc around 14 times (28 sts each round)
Do not fasten off, leave stitch open
Note: Now is a good time to attach and embroider the face.
Face
1. Ch 8 in flesh tone
2. Sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc 5 sts, 3 sc in last chain, sc along back side of chain 5 sts, 2 sc in beginning chain, do not join.
3. 2 sc in first st from last round, sc across next 5 sts, 2sc in next st, slst to next stitch, tie off and attach black
4. With black sc around entire face, tie off and leave a long tail for sewing on
Now comes the trickiest part, the legs. It isn't all that tricky really, just involves keeping track of the beginning of the row and counting.
First Leg
Legs are made directly onto the body, insert hook into the open body stitch
1. Sc across 7 sts, instead of continuing around in a circle sc into the stitch on the other side of the body, the stitch which is the 7th sc from the beginning of the round going the opposite direction from which you're crocheting in. This will separate the body and you'll be working on just one leg, which should be 14 sts around (half the number of body sts)
2-6. Sc around these 14 sts 5 times
7. Dec every st (7sts)
8. Dec every st (4sts)
Finish off and sew hole shut
Second Leg
1. Attach yarn to very first sc after the first leg (with his face side facing you). Sc in this st and sc around. (14 sts)
2. Sc in the first st from the last round, this should connect both sides to form a circle. Sc around (14 sts)
3-6. Sc around (14 sts)
Note: Now is a good time to stuff the body.
7. Dec every st (7sts)
8. Dec every st (4sts)
Finish off and sew hole shut
Arms (make 2)
1. 5 sc in Adjustable Ring with black
2. Inc every stitch (10 sts)
3-8. Sc around
Finish off, leave tail for sewing on
Sew on arms. You've got your own little ninja!
A note on all my patterns: I offer my patterns free, and I'd like them to stay free, therefore feel free to print them out and pass them out to as many people as you'd like, I simply ask that you put my web address somewhere on the pattern, so people know where it came from. Never ever sell my patterns or present them as your own. You can give away items made from my patterns, but if you want to sell them online you need to state that the pattern is free and available here. This means that every single listing for any item made with my pattern must state that the pattern you used is free and you must also post a link to it. I'm not trying to be mean, I just want the most people possible to have access to free patterns. Please don't violate these rules and ruin things for everyone else. Thanks!
